Well its kinda what nearly happened few time in a campaign i play in.

our dm doesn´t need to do much.
For example:
Early on in the campaign our characters got the mission to retrieve magical items out ofa wizards tower, the witard had some traps in his tower which kinda showed that he was loosing his sanity. because there was a pit filled with choclat pudding and an illusion let it look if there was just a floor, nearly half of the party nearly killed themself in it to get our clericer out of it.

our sorcer in the game of curse of strahd i DM blew up two giant kegs with wine in the wineyard, it killed the enemies but engulfed the party, as the kegs exploded the party was knocked over by 8000 liters of wine and then our warlock triued a fireball and rolled a nat1 and it backfired on himself. that is what this meme is in refrence for.

Well, there are worse ways to go...but very few better.

yeah my party nearly did and the chaotic nature of us its not the only time, my Kobold sorcerer shocked the wizard and paladin with a shocking grasp while we were in the sewers. Why we were in the sewers well our cleric was captured and we tried to infiltrate the prison through the sewers, well we where ambushed by an ooze which swallowed my kobold sorcerer i cast fireball and nearly blew up 1/4 of a city well fires and flooding my wizard was unconcious.

Seriously our DM has to pull some strings so we don´t loose our characters, which ended recently because he is bit fed up of our suicidal antics.
We call our group: Semtex (yes like the explosive)

Kinda sounds like the kind of game my friends and I played back when I was a High School Freshmen. (We used the Pladium System: One system/multiple titles: ie: Robotech/RIFTS/TMNT, etc.)

All the games ended up like this: Amass as much toys as you can, off each other, blow up the universe, repeat. Murderhobos and Munchkins all! It was a multiplayer FPS battle royale before such a thing even existed!

our Shadar kai wizard recently vaporized my Kobold sorcerer our paladin and himself, well this is the point where our dm made the last mercy revive. it was kinda supposed that my socerer died since i wanted change class and we played his story arc in the campaign.
Hombrew alot here, but in the world we play kobolds had a high tech civilisation realy sci-fi and their science kinda pushed magic out the world but something happened. The civilsation was pretty much destroyed and magic returned, so we were on our mary way to find one of the ruins.
well i got stuck in a explosive liquid and got attacked, a forcefield stopped fire to enter paladin und wizard to get me out. well after it seemed impossible the wizard wanted to get out but cast a firebolt and jump out before he got blown to bits that didn´t work.

so he blew me the paladin and himself up, Wizard was reincarnated by the deity of our warlock he is now a female drow fighter samurai, the raven queen was merciful and brought our paladin back and my Kobold sorcerer well he was rebuild as a Cyborg via nanomachines and is now a Artificer armorer.
