I agree. The walking one looks good. The running one actually kind of looks like a side shuffle. I think it's more than just the leg. The left arm should move farther back as well. Locomotion animation is very hard though (or so every animator I've worked with professionally has told me). So it's a good start.

Well, I got one right at least. Yeah, I don't know how I messed up the running one so bad. Have given a slight touch up (mostly the weird leg work) but it still looks more like a shuffle than a run.

I do feel a bit better hearing that actual animators will claim trying to get movement right is difficult, thank you for that and also for having looked this over.

The running one reminds me of an old Atari game Berzerk, OR, it looks like he's on rollerskates!

Second one is more of a dance than a run XD

I'd take a look at the left leg movement and the way the body is shifting. How it is right now with their arms up makes it look as if the body is twisting instead of a running movement. Accidently made your boy do more of a floss than a run XD the leg as well kind of looks like he's breaking his ankle.

I'm trash at art so take this with a grain of salt, but I'd suggest using the walk template again and then shape the spring from there. By doing so you are given the correct angle and leg points. Then from there, you can speed up the animation slightly, maybe show a motion in the knees and arms more and it should shape itself out!

I'm grateful that you'd say so. Both could definitely use some work, but this was something I more or less slapped together over the course of an evening so I'm very glad you thought they came out good enough!

Yeah, I really don't know where I went wrong trying to put the run together. Have tried to give it a little bit of a touch up by just mimicking the right leg's movements but it still looks off...

Using the walk template was how I had started, though I'm not sure where I went wrong trying to make it look more like a run. In hindsight, maybe I could have at least pulled up a video of someone running so I could get an actual image over what was just in my head at the time. I do appreciate the thoughts; will probably give this another go at some point so I'll be sure to remember that.

Nice sprites! The walking one looks like normal walking and the second one definitely makes me think of dancing, haha. To me it's either running in a way with intensely moving legs and kept to the body hands, like if you had them in the pockets (which looks funny in my imagination haha), or the aforementioned dancing. :P

And I like your clothes. You look stylish in the cloak. Just don't put on that snorkel while running because it will look maybe really weird, or eerie in a way. And it might be uncomfortable.

EDIT: "You look stylish in the cloak" Ummm, it's a weird thing to say to someone who essentially is the cloak. o.O You look stylish just always.

Damn, you did it! I decided to look at it again now and there's a freaking snorkel! Now it looks so groovy that I don't know what to write to express the intensity of that grooviness.

And haha, if you practiced you could dance even better than that in real life. We can dance like that together; you with the snorkel and me on two paws using them like legs.
