thinking about fairies and how to balance the "insect" with "cute tiny woman"
not quite there yet but a bipedal wasp is fun too
they sure won't be mammals and their second pair of arms is somewhat dome shaped and is used to transport eggs (in some species), is usually underdeveloped or missing in males
fairies are often kept by mages and high skill gardeners as they eat all the plant pests but have to be removed in time before they reproduce and their larvae start feasting on the succulent blossoms the adults were protecting so fiercely
in most species adults are insectivorous (sometimes might nibble on avialible meat/carryon as well) and larvae are herbivorous but some are known to be parasticic and lay their eggs onto other insects or even larvae of other fairies
usually found/kept in groups of about 10-15 individuals, are suspected to have a primitive language but nobody cared to decrypt it yet
certain species are known to weave clothes out of leaves and flowers and whatever brightly colored light objects they can find purpose of which is unknown
some suspect it to be a mating display while the same people thinking they have language think it's them imitating people
their varied colorful appearance made it very difficult to distinguish between species and it was later discovered that (adult) coloration depends little on genetics and more on the type of plant they were feeding on since hatching
mages and rich people selectively breed them for more and more exotic shapes and even known to hand feed them since hatching to influence the adult coloration
