Better images later, but for now... MYSTERY
Argh done as it'll be for class! I consider this a prototype, since it doesn't fit my vision or the bar of craftsmanship I set for myself, but it's probably my best mask experience yet. Trying to do a mask in a few weeks with a new technique I've never tried, and about a million other projects to work on besides, is not the best idea.
I'll use paper mache in the future; even though I didn't have time to reenforce this one, you can still knock soundly on it while at the same time it's just flexible enough not to be brittle and snap! aaaa paper pulp, my new god.
Paper mache pulp base, fixed and modded with Apoxie clay, painted with acrylics with gold leaf accents, plastic dome eyes that I painted with acrylics and gold leaf, faux fur accents on the face, kanekalon mane, and moving jaw.

Oh yeah. My friend told me about how people who lived up in the mountains (usually wealthy folk, mind you) had to put bars over their windows. Not because of thieves but because of the baboons. When they would forage for, they knew the humans had food and they liked to pick on the children who only wanted to eat their hotdogs and such. It wasn't uncommon for baboons to throw rocks at windows and then steal all the food they could. It was also pretty common for a baboon to go up to a kid who was eating and hit them with a stick so they'd drop their food and run away.
