What does Moxie taste like?

It cannot be easily described. It has to be experienced. The main flavor is gentian root, the same flavor you'll find in Angostura Bitters. Some folks state they taste a bit of cloves. Others aren't sure what it is. My favorite description to date is Carbonated BenGay™ which I laughed my head off over the first time I heard it. Alas, after grad uni I was the live-in caretaker for my maternal grandmother for the last six months of her life and to my shock, her BenGay smelled just like Moxie! It's an acquired taste. You'll either hate it or get hooked. I don't think I've met anyone who is indifferent to it. Mostly found in Northern New England, the store section of CrackerBarrel restaurants and other specialty stores. CB and specialty stores are supplied by a bottler outside of Seattle which uses real cane sugar unlike the high fructose corn syrup crap we get stuck with here in New England.
