This is a young adult snapping turtle was up and on the trail. Might have been a female laying eggs, but I did not want to get close enough to check lol. Very clean shell for a snapper.

Exactly! This one was pretty calm- i approached quietly and calmly and it was peaceful. Still kept an eye on me, but was not stressed. They are so intricate!
