I read that the poet Sappho interpreted Aphrodite as a protector of lesbian women like herself. I've also heard somewhere that Aphrodite herself was canonically bisexual, or maybe pansexual. It makes sense; she's the goddess of love, and love comes in different forms. Here she is showing her pride.
