Night of the Widewolf
“Grr… I hunger… for Fresh Meat!”
Lycanthropy is a condition that leads to many changes - most obvious of which is the transformation of the afflicted into a hulking, insatiably bloodthirsty wolf-beast. There are other changes that are often glossed over in most accounts - chief amongst this is the inevitable weight gain that accompanies the binging and feasting of the full moon nights.
For some lycans, the change is immediately severe - even after the first night of the full moon, the once muscular, toned beast will be transformed into a rippling feedbag, traces of the signature six-pack buried under pounds upon pounds of lard. And, as the size of the wolf increases, so does his appetite…
There is some debate over whether or not the weight sticks with the afflicted when the transformation subsides, as this is a magical affliction, generally - but, civilians would be wise to be wary of any neighbors inexplicably plumping up over the full moon… For either their cattle - or themselves - may be next on the Full Moon Menu…

A very fun personal piece I illustrated a couple months back, featuring a delightfully doughy werewolf! Every once in a while, I am filled with the incredible urge to draw fatty werewolves like this one, much like my compulsion to draw potbellied satyrs, and it is always a pleasure to indulge such urges, haha.
The background, inking and fur patterning on this one was experimental in general, and I’d say I’m pretty happy with the effects overall! If I recall, I avoided my normal ink pens and shading layers, and I think it produced an interesting look to the piece. I’m not sure if I’ll revisit a style like this in future, but I’d say it works for this one.
I hope you all enjoy, and expect more posting soon!
