Angel Island Zone, Act 1 (Sonic 3 & Knuckles)
2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the legendary SEGA Genesis video game "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," which became the first half of "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" if you had the lock-on cartridge. What better time, I thought, than to do a song from that game? In this case, I've chosen Angel Island Zone, Act 1. (This is where we'd also meet Knuckles the Echidna for the first time.)
Being who I am, though, my bad habits kicked in, and I smuggled bits and pieces of the "Jeopardy!" theme into my arrangement again. (That's how you can always tell that it was me who did this, since TV game shows are my actual forte rather than video games.) Here, I put it in the steel drum part; can you spot it?
The way I've done it here is for:
Sax section (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone)
Melodic keyboard section (glockenspiel, vibraphone, xylophone)
Drum set
Piano
Electric bass guitar
Soprano steel drums
This arrangement © me and me alone
Credit goes to the arranger of a different score I used to help me do this one, since I had some troubles with the rhythms.
Also special thanks to Alex Yard (@AlexYardZone) for his music theory video, which also helped me figure this out.
Music originally composed by Jun Senoue and the SEGA Sound Team; there is a chance Michael Jackson had also something to do with it.

Jeopardy! © Sony Pictures Television, Jeopardy! Productions, and everyone else who owns the rights, and created by Merv Griffin. (I mention that because I smuggled parts of the song in here.)
