This is a commissioned piece from
Evangellos! Please check them out and tell them I said hi!Alrighty! This is one I have been wanting to get for a very long time and finally have achieved! Thanks to the amazing artistic talents of
Evangellos I now have a more proper ref sheet for my boy Tiber! The last one here isn’t bad, but I had to get another! I’m choosing to post a SFW version here, I’m debating posting the NSFW one. I may put it in scraps… I haven’t decided. But the point is here is my boy! Lemme introduce you…Name: Tiber of the Northern Alfian Wolves. Formerly of the Southern Forest Wolves
Born: The village of Raven’s Nest, once a member of the Alupine Wolves
Species: Feraci (Reman Wolf Variant)
Age: 6 in human years, 24 in Feraci
Family: Sienna (Mother, Deceased), Alfia (twin Sister), Marcus (younger brother, Deceased), Nero (cousin)
Paraphernalia: Bronze metal teeth, capable of dispelling magic. A magical Ice sword that can control the winds, steals the souls of any it kills and allows him to speak with the dead.
Personality: Before the war, smug, overconfident, arrogant and lackadaisical. After the war, sullen, quiet, focused and direct. Tiber is a very “matter-of-fact” individual, doing whatever is asked. He is as loyal as they come and will gladly give his life for close friends and family, accepting no disrespect towards them for any reason. He keeps to himself but loves a good party. If you truly wish to hear his uncensored thoughts about things, get him drunk. He never turns down a drink. He desperately wants to be seen as his charming self but after the war has become socially awkward and his scars and teeth scare away many from talking with him.
History: Reliable history on the wolves before the war is quite difficult. They did not write anything down and left much of their history to oral tradition, which naturally changed over the years, exaggerating wildly beyond the original telling. But Tiber himself has been kind enough to tell his story. Some details may be less than accurate with historical record but here is what I’ve been able to discern…
Tiber was born as the eldest male child of the Matriarch of the Alupine Wolves Sienna. His twin sister Alfia and he were inseparable, strong little monsters that regularly got in trouble and bugged the other Mothers and Fathers of the other tribes. Since the Wolves united into a single confederation a few years before his birth, Tiber spent years learning from other tribes how to fight, hunt and speak the human tongue, but rarely cared about anything other than hunting.
Tiber was the ace hunter of his tribe, always selected to lead the parties and coupled with his very pretty appearance (self described), being lean and athletic, he was the hot shot of the Wolves. Everyone knew him and everyone loved him. Well… almost everyone. Sources are unclear and many wolves say something different but the simplest understanding is that the two siblings would get into a serious falling out as they pursued differing paths. Tiber became a soldier and hunter while Alfia studied to follow in the footsteps of their Mother and lead the Wolves.
As they got older, they grew apart and soon a rift formed between the two. Tiber would not say what it was but Alfia said it was his constant “dicking around”. Tiber wasn’t very bright, rarely caring about diplomacy or peace and enjoyed tales of the Wolves conquests and battles despite never being in one. He wanted desperately to be seen as an equal to his smart and analytical sister but always felt like a disappointment.
This would change during the Conquest Wars of Master Kaius of Silver, then a young Prince of Blackwood in need of allies. Sienna allied with the young human who would begin a 9 year campaign to conquer the entirety of the continent, allowing the Wolves access to Iron weaponry and stronger tools for hunting in return for their service. Tiber proved himself a capable warrior and many who served him say he was a kind and honorable fighter, but other humans in his service say that Tiber only won due to sheer luck. His plan was always to overwhelm an enemy with numbers. No planning or strategy used.
He would always fight as hard as possible to be taken seriously but bad luck rendered his attacks as little more than distractions at best and a needless loss of life at worst. Mistake after mistake left Tiber bitter and while his men loved him, most authority did not. This led him to find joy in two things: Drinking and Women.
Feraci are known for their very low tolerance of alcohol and Tiber was no different, but he loved the feeling of being drunk and surrounded by, in his own words, “pretty Human girls of all shapes, sizes and colors” he truly gave into his vices. The young wolf was a pariah, seen as nothing more than a nuisance by the military, an embarrassment by his sister and a ticking time bomb for Master Kaius. The years of neglect left him arrogant and demanding more responsibility from the higher ups and with him actually being very popular and helping with morale in the camps, Tiber was well on his way to trigger a revolt in his name. So Master Kaius capitulated.
The Northern territories of the empire were sparsely populated and lacking leadership. It was a cold, harsh land where agriculture was difficult and most food came from hunting. Since the Wolves were strictly carnivorous, multiplied quickly and Tiber was so well loved, everyone believed he could turn these previously unsustainable regions to strong border zones from Northern tribes.
It did not turn out that way.
The account of what was dubbed “The Blacknight Massacre” is heavily biased but its true is nonetheless proven. The invaders from the Northernmost continent of Skyfall had come and invaded out home, tearing a bloody path through the north and killing as many natives as they could before the Warrior Queen Freydis moved further south. She snuck up on the wolves on a traditional night of revelry and killed every single one save for Tiber himself, the last one standing.
The Wolves, ever the honorable people, say that Tiber was betrayed by a young wolf named Camouhun who would take raiding parties in the north to hunt but got them killed instead. But Tiber would say he foolishly chose to drink with his friends and left his post, leaving them unable to counterattack the Skyfall raiders.
After enduring traumatic torture and horrific sights like the ritualistic sacrifice of his people, Tiber would see them avenged with the aid of his people. A massive migration of wolves moved North to help subjugate the northern lands. They would destroy the capital city of Freydis, claiming it for their own and renaming it “Fenrisulven” after one of the greatest wolves in their faith.
Beforehand, Tiber, Alfia and all wolves were colored brown and black to match the forests of their southern homelands. But after the war, half of them would remain and become ghostly white, including Alfia and Tiber. To this day no one is quite sure what happened. No wolf tells and no human was there to witness it.
Tiber would be the head of all military actions in the region, keeping joint rule with his sister, now reconciled, who served as the administrative governor of the region. He is kind, willing to speak to any who are brave enough to say hi. Unfortunately, his scarred face and bronze teeth make approaching him scary to many who do not know him. His voice is deep and graveled, but he has a pleasant singing voice, wide and comforting. He has a great wide smile, infectious but scary. Every time he shows his teeth, my heart races. That said, Tiber is a lovely wolf to be with. Sharing stories is his favorite thing to do. If you wish to befriend him, you need only share a drink and story with him. The more personal, the better.
Do not let the scars deter you please. He is in need of friends.
Information I have acquired about Laurel Tiber, Governor of the Northern Territories
1. Tiber’s teeth are made of unaltered Bronze. After losing his teeth in the war, a friend magically fused metal blades to his maw. Now with 42 sharp swords as teeth made of the strongest Bronze, Tiber is more dangerous than all other Wolves on the continent.
2. Bronze is a natural deterrent towards magic. This makes many magic users very nervous around him.
Wolves love to tell the story of how Tiber bit a dragon. Since Dragons are beings made of Magic, bronze is one of the few things that can kill them. He would not tell me if this is true, he only laughed.
3. He is in possession of an accursed blade. Jadis, the Blade of Winter’s Bite. It was taken from the Warrior Queen Freydis and steals the souls of all it kills on top of commanding the ice and snow. It is held in a bronze sheath to contain its power.
4. Despite his teeth being made of bronze, he was dubbed “The Iron Wolf” by the Northerners. He claims it’s because they are “idiots who can’t tell the difference between bronze and iron”. The scant few northerners I’ve spoken to have said they have never used bronze weapons unlike us so this may simply be unfamiliarity with the metal.
5. This is not something he likes to speak of but Tiber’s… uhm… genitals were removed in the war. His gelding humiliated him especially since Wolves value reproduction as an absolutely MUST in order to continue the growth of their pack. A lack of children is a serious shame on a wolf. Tiber was able to have a magical… reconstruction of his reproductive organs but this was only cosmetic. Tiber is infertile and unable to produce any children. DO NOT BRING THIS UP. Even if you are angered by him, do not mention this if you value your life.
Written by Semir, Historian of the Myrinian Empire. **********Woo! That was a lot of history. But I felt like all of it was important to learn the kind of person Tiber was in the beginning and the person he is now. My poor boy has been through far too much for one so young. But man is it fascinating to come up with. Ya know the saying for writers. Kill your babies. I wanted to have a little bit of the “Unreliable Narrator” thing in this. We know the core bits of Tiber’s life and a lot of what goes on but we don’t know EVERYTHING. As happens with life, details get muddied, reports are changed, inconsistent or unreliable. You have to do your best guess. Hope that came across here.
Random Fun Fact: Tiber was one of the first people I ever created when making my Chronicles of Alvarys series. Him, his sister Alfia and Kaius.
Thanks again to
Evangellos for doing this for me! He truly looks amazing in every way shape and form and I can’t get enough of it! I love him! I hope you do too.Character belongs to
