At the request of cougr and wolfkidd and many, many others. ^^
One night I decided to draw a "how to draw the head of a kuvrahk" sketch thingy. For me it's easy, I've got it down like super quick for myself. But when it comes to other artists that have very different approaches to their art, the implication of a nose like I do it isn't sufficient to provide real structure for others to incorporate into their methods.
The funny thing is, I never noticed til I was asked, that I start with the head shape, usually some guidelines for an idea. And then I draw the nostrils. The nostrils/nose are what helps determine the face. I then base the eyes and mouth around it accordingly. I don't detail the nose much except in shadows and highlights. In sketching I just imply the nose with a couple of afterthought markings for nostrils and usually your own eye draws the conclusion. Made even more effective when you draw the "outer" outline of the face to shape it together.
The mid to lower left of the page shows what some of the surfaces of a kuvrahk's head are like. I usually don't detail it as much as I should, but they do have cheeks, and I'm hoping to add that more in future artings. Typically they're also implied, and brought to live through only the use of shading and highlights.

What you're looking at up there, the draconic critters that Noben draws (race/world of her own setting and design), and uses for her comic "Altermeta" ( http://www.altermeta.net/ )
