Looks sort of like an antimatter plant to me, like Fornix is doing a science experiment to make plants out of antimatter.

TO BE SRSBSNSS it's an entity known as Ixgas that Fornix controls like a plasma. If you've ever played the MOTHER series, Ixgas is a Giygas equivalence, but unlike Giegue, Fornix can control his.
