It's really hard for me to trust anymore. Any one of my 'friends' could just vanish without a trace, and I'd be left holding the bag, sitting like an obedient lapdog for years on end. What stings all the more is when I find one of my long lost friends on the internet, just on a chance, and I find out they no longer want anything to do with me.
Is a simple "Goodbye" or "We should see other people" too hard to muster up?
You can understand why I am a bit cynical, and if not, you haven't been hurt like I have.

That is so sad, but I know how you feel. In fact, I'm wary about being more adamant about contacting a long lost friend for that very reason.
There are so many terrible, selfish people in the world. But not all of them are bad. Over time I've made friends with nice people, and I think it's because I'm so closed off from all the hurt in the past that only the nicest of people could ever dream of cracking the shell. Even though I don't know you, I hope that you too one day can find happiness in some people as well. =(

Ah, I see. When people lie it just makes things much worse. I think it's much easier to be told a harsh truth flat out than to be lied to about it. Yet for some reason people are determined to lie in order to not hurt the others feelings. But the truth will get out eventually, so it causes much more hassle and pain than if they were just honest from the start. =(
