Thanks to communication across the universe becoming increasingly more widespread, culture from various planets spread too, making some civilizations who aren't even on Earth start to incorporate things like Christmas just for the vibes of it. That includes Planet Hetrocera. So on a Christmas day there, Coeus sets up a mistletoe at the top of the kitchen's doorframe in the house of Dione and himself, making Dione notice and ask: "What's that for?", so that he then explains the whole kissing under a mistletoe thing to her.
As the Christmas party progresses, Coeus makes sure that Dione and Charon eventually walk through that door, at which point he stops them right there and tells them: "Hey, you two! Look what's above you, hehe.", making them aware of the mistletoe above them. Since both of those two know by now what that means, that makes them blush at the realization, while Coeus encourages them: "Come on, don't disrespect the culture, hehe!" So then, wanting to get it over with specifically because of the awkwardness of it, Dione and Charon kiss, even if both of them are rather flustered about it at first. In the end, neither of them really minded it though.
Not much later, Pallas asks Coeus: "Did you... set this up on purpose for this to be the outcome?", with the male anthro moth replying with a wink: "I think you already know the answer. Heh... I just want to see Dione be truly happy, really.", showing that Coeus was never oblivious to Dione's feelings for him and only not acknowledging them most of the time to hopefully get her to lose those feelings and get them for someone who would romantically love her back instead. And that purple reptile over there has always been that someone, ever since they first met.

While Dione is having yet another visit to Charon, as they watch TV, she falls asleep leaning on him, which certainly makes the anthropomorphic crocodile feel all warm inside. Not wanting to disturb her peaceful sleep, he decides to just stay right there, eventually falling asleep on the couch as well. In the morning, she wakes up a few minutes before him, so that she can realize having sleeped leaning on him, blushing from the realization and quickly getting some distance, with confusion about her feelings in her head.

On another occassion on the anthro crocodile's home planet Chronotytonida, Charon tells her: "I wanna show you something!", as they are at the sea, leading to the revelation that Charon has a little boat, proudly telling her: "Yes, I know how to steer it. You like water, so... do you want a ride with me there? I-If you genuinely want to, I mean..." The female Rosy Maple Moth certainly relishes it with how fond she is of anything water-related, finding herself really enjoying the time with Charon much more than she thought she would. At a later point during this, with the wind blowing against them as they sail across the water not too far away from the shore, she decides to ask him: "Haha... Why do you even have boat?", so that he points out: "I'm named after the guy in mythology who ferries souls of the deceased across the rivers of the underworld. Hehe, having that name just ended up making me seek out being able to do this. Well, the boat riding, specifically. Not... Not literally carrying dead souls, haha!" Dione giggles at that, stating: "Makes sense."

Because of Charon showing her something she hadn't really experienced before, a few days later the female anthro moth decides to return the favor, showing and introducing him to Dodona Woodland on her home planet. Charon is enthralled by the gigantic skyscraper-sized trees and finds the idea behind the wind chimes hanging here fascinating, happily learning more about the culture of Dione's people here. As the two of them enjoy the time together here, Charon decides to try breaking the ice some more, even if kinda shyly: "So uhh... Dione... would you uhh... what do you think about us uhh... you know, uhm... h-having an actual date or something, heh... like, actually calling it that too..."

What follows are several dates, but also several more occassions of boat riding together, with especially the latter activity making Dione gradually fall in love with Charon too, all while finally getting over her feelings for Coeus. Again, the water association here plays a big role with her emotions regarding the reptile, with how much more personal it feels because of it. So eventually, after yet another boat riding session, she confesses: "Charon?... I'm really happy we got to meet, heh... not just because we both have a connection to water. I... I'm gonna just be blunt about it. ... I've... fallen for you, Charon. I... love you. And even if you wouldn't love me back... I appreciate you being able to make me get over my uhh... mild obsession with Coeus, heh..." "Silly.", the purple scaled reptile replies with a warm smile, "Isn't it already obvious that I feel the same? Because I do, Dione, I love you too. ... Truly always have done so. Wanna... You know uhhh... be boyfriend and girlfriend?..." She holds onto him closely, letting him know happily: "I'd love that, Charon... I would genuinely love that.", as he has his arms around her too in response.

Dione ends up moving out of the home she has with Coeus - who really doesn't mind that as he values Dione's happiness this much after all - in order to move to a home on Chronotytonida with Charon, big enough for a whole family to live in it. Well, good thing both Coeus and Tethys earn plenty of money to help their friends achieve such things much easier.

While eating at a restaurant together after being a romantic couple for 52 weeks (the same amount of weeks as the amount of cards in a standard playing cards deck), Charon folds his napkin into a boat and jokingly plays around with it, so that Dione comments on that in an endearing manner: "Silly.", something she seems to like calling him in this way, with him putting something inside the boat-shaped napkin without her noticing. He then "drives" the napkin boat to her side of the table, pretending: "Alright, captain, we reached the harbor!" That's when Dione notices something shiny in the napkin boat, shaking it out of it out of curiousity. It's a ring, with her eyes widening as she now realizes the implication of that before she looks to Charon who now asks her with the sweetest smile: "Do you... want to marry me, Dione?" She immediately gets up to hug him, exclaiming in enjoy: "I'd love, Charon! I really do!"

Dione and Charon get married on Planet Hetrocera, with Tethys and Oceanus being the ones who organized the whole wedding, that potentially questionable couple of married siblings fist bumping each other on making this happen for their friends... well, "fist bump" may be mildly misleading, with Oceanus using one of his front paws while Tethys uses her tail and Oceanus having to do so while holding back a lot of his strength due to being gigantic but you get the point. Expectedly, both Charon and Dione say the words "I do.", when it's time to do so, then sealing their promise to stay with each other until death with a genuinely loving kiss.
