Fangjvir bounds through the tunnels of the ruined temple in a blind fury, trying desperately to outrun his terror. He enters the main sanctum and skids to a stop, frantically scanning the walls looking for a way out, his eyes wide with fear. The light from the orange firefly-like magical lamps throwing shadows wildly across the walls reflecting his own inner turmoil.
Suddenly, the ceiling splits open with a deafening crash, and a white dragoness lands in the middle of the room. Amendelwyr's wings spread out with a subtle shift to scatter the dust away from her, and she stood proudly and tall, letting the light from her entrance filter down into the interior of the chamber. Her scales scattering the illumination like dazzling stars in all directions. The golden trim of her frill cascaded bejeweled motes. She says nothing, but flares her nostrils from the exertion. With a flick of her tail, she looks towards Fangjvir. Her foreleg lifts up and she stretches her claws out to him.
Fangjvir instinctively shrinks back in fear. "No! Please, don't use magic on me! You don't understand, this place is changing my brain: how I think, how I act. I don't know what is real anymore, what is an original thought and what has been forced into my brain against my will. I am no longer in control of my own mind." The last he says with fervid bitterness, and his lips twist into a snarl.
Amendelwyr hardly moves, breathing in and out with the smallest flexing of her wings. "No magic, Fangjvir. Come." She invited warmly.
Fangjvir hesitated, was this some trick? He thought back to all the times the Skywarden had been kind to others, including himself, and had given him advice on the feelings of loneliness. He wanted to trust her, but was that his own decision, or was that from some outside influence on his mind? He took a deep breath and curled his talons into a tight ball, then slowly let them fall away along with that thought. He knew if he continued down that way of thinking, there would be no turning back, and he really would loose his mind. This however was a way out. He crossed the room and stood before the Skywarden, his head and shoulders just barely entering the ring of light cast from the ruined ceiling. He trembled slightly as he looked up at her, though there was a confidence in his voice that he knew was entirely his own.
"I trust you."
