"The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is a magnificent work of fairytale fantasy by L. Frank Baum, first published in 1900.
Most people probably think more of the 1939 musical adaptation, starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale and Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West.
In the novel, Dorothy and her three friends, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion, face the Kalidahs (which was not adopted in the musical film, but was in other adaptations such as the 1986 anime series). The Kalidahs are described as a hybrid of a bear and a lion, i.e. a bear body with a tiger head. But the Tin Woodman is able to chop up a felled tree they used to cross a ravine, allowing the Kalidahs to fall to their deaths (Baum had decided by "The Magic of Oz", published 1919, that the inhabitants of Oz are immortal, so a kalidah, though pierced through the heart, survives.) and continue their journey to the Emerald City.
I created an anthropomorphic Kalidah using Hero Forge. The mixture of two powerful predators, the bear and the tiger.
