Couldnt find any more pics from the technology song in the brave little toaster haha. i wanted the computer smiling lol, but this will do. Trying some new bass lines out too, was really happy with the outcome. Been really messing with FL 10 that came out not too long ago. its basically the same as 9 but alot more user friendly. you FL guys should check it out

Heavy stuff man! Love all the wonky bass noises and crisp leads!
Might need to boost them drums though. The track didn't seem to pump enough without the drums smashing through the mix.
Cudos on Fl 10 btw, I'm still stuck on FL 9.7 :P It took me a while to get used to that. Don't think I"ll be upgrading anytime soon ;p

^ In agreement. Sounds like a kick with more thwack to it would cut through better. then the one currently used.
As a matter of personal preference, I kinda wish the note on the sub bass (particularly at 0:59 onward) Would cut through more. If it listen hard, I can tell it's pitched, but it's kinda hard to hear it through everything else.
Slick as always. You keep it up, and I'll keep on listening. XD It's a good arrangement we have here.

Uh, for me it usually depends on the synth. Things I would try:
1. Adding another octave above it, but lowering the volume.
2. Similarly, adding another synth on top of it that helps carry the pitch through a little better.
3. Apparently, good audio engineers, if they like the way something like that sounds but it's too loud, they'll finish the song, and then put an EQ on the whole song, and find the exact frequency that it's peaking too much at and lower it that way. I suck at all things Mixing/Mastering, so if you've got more of grasp you could try that way.
Dunno if those'll help. As you can tell my from my stuff, mixing's not a priority... only because I have no idea what I'm doing. XD

Most, if not all of the punch for kicks (and drums in general) is achieved through compression, some minor eq'ing and sidechaining.
In this case id say adding another kick with more high-end, and boosting it around 3-5000. As well, a little compression, and sidechaining the bass a bit would let your kick smash through the mix a lot better, without boosting the volume even.
You seem familliar with compression lol :p so i wont go into that. As for the sidechaining, fl 9-10 have built in sidechain functions through the mixer and fruity limiter/compressor (thank god xp)
Lemme know if youve got anymore questions man :) note me, or even steal my msn handle if ya want. We'll chat moozic sometime.
