Though not long afterwards Dione realizes how bad she was acting there, thinking to herself about it, but also feels like she probably shouldn't show up to them again after how toxic she was being just now. Not realizing that this way of thinking makes her push away specifically those who try to help her, which is bound to make her spiral down even further.

Is there anyone I can rely on??Does this make you feel better about yourself to not simply let me have some fun??", still not catching onto Charon's feelings, especially since this whole thing is a bad coping mechanism for not getting the one she wants romantically, so her focus simply isn't on anyone else, especially now. "Don't lie to yourself...", Charon shows understanding of the situation, "This was never about fun to you..." "Well, fuck you!", she shouts before leaving with the door to Charon's home getting shut loudly by her in the process. Charon however just looks worried about her, as he can clearly tell that something bad is going on inside her head.

Pallas the goblin also tries to help Dione when he catches onto her mental well-being getting worse and her getting more agitated: "Hey, Dione, can I have a word with you?" "What do you want? You're literally asexual, so I can't even do anything with you." "I don't think you are truly oblivious to what you're actually doing to yourself... Look, I just want to help. We all just want to help you." "Come on, not you too..." "I'm sorry, but... you have to face reality, Dione.", Pallas tells her, "And the reality is... your behavior is really harmful to yourself. You just make yourself feel worse and worse if you keep going like this... I'm concerned about you, we all are, you know?" "No, you all just don't understand me!", Dione literally lies to herself, "Leave me alone!", at this point pushing him away too, because by now it's becoming a habit.

Even Coeus ends up refusing to have sex with her again, "Tethys informed me about your actual motivations here... and she's right, this is a very unhealthy way to deal with feelings. But even though Dione just tries to push him away too, he won't let her: "No. Dione, we're friends. We're best friends. I refuse to leave you alone when you clearly need help and guidance..." The contradiction of feeling like wanting to push him away like everyone else while also loving him this much and how Coeus just prevents her from pushing him away too, forcing her to just face the situation as it is... this just causes a mental breakdown for Dione and she bursts into tears while her best friend keeps her close in a comforting manner. She cries and cries, showing how much pain there was bottled up inside at this point. And Coeus stays by her side.

Ultimately, none of the friends she pushed away stay away, since they can all tell that Dione needs help and want to do their best to provide that to her. This however also causes her to have a lot more trouble finding someone to do it with, which makes her realize how much more empty she feels after all that. With the help of Coeus, Tethys, Oceanus, Charon and Pallas, she does eventually get out of the sexual lifestyle she was very unhealthily using to fill a void in her that only became bigger because of the mindless indulgement for the sake of just distraction. But even after getting over that, she isn't the same person as she was before, noticably a lot less cheerful. Her smile is seen a lot more rarely.

Dione ends up getting sick, which eventually leads to her getting diagnosed with some incurable sexually transmitted disease she must have gotten recently enough for thankfully nobody among her friends to have caught it too.

So only a few years later, Dione is on her death bed. Coeus is of course there to give her company, but not only does she feel like dying alone anyway, she feels more alone during this death than during any other life. Where is the love for marine biology? Where is the appreciation for her friends? Where is who she used to be? Nothing is there anymore, that's how she feels, there's just... emptiness. Dione feels cold. She asks Coeus weakly: "Am I... Am I really... that unlovable?..."

Coeus however reacts with confusion: "Why'd you ask something like that? You are perfectly lovable, Dione. You're such a good girl at heart after all." But Dione states what she thinks: "Let's not make fools of ourselves, Coeus... Nobody ever felt anything for me... not even the one who I thought was the one for me, that being... you..." Her best friend then responds to that with: "It went right over your head, huh?...", making now Dione be the one with the confused look.
So then Coeus points out: "Heh... Weren't Charon's feelings towards you obvious?" Dione now finally realizes this too, now that it's pointed out to her. All the little acts of kindness, all those ways Charon tried to spend more time with her, even just how the first encounter with him went as he got all awkward whenever he wasn't talking to only Coeus specifically. Was she always this focused on wanting to be with Coeus that she never even noticed there actually being someone to love her back? Coeus can tell from her look: " You really had no idea, hm? I... want to give you a chance of genuine love before you die, so I'll try to call Charon to get here, okay?" Dione smiles weakly, letting him know: "I'd like that..."
However, by the time Charon gets here about half an hour later, Dione has already passed away. That of course makes both Coeus and Charon sad, though not as sad as them losing Dione at all, of course.
