Based on my emotional memories from reading the manga:
Part 4: Best art style, knocked it out of the park with the twist of genre, and introduction of music-themed stands. Fantastic cast, fantastic villain. I didn’t watch the anime for this part, but I heard the opening ‘Great days’ and think it’s the best opening of Jojo
Part 5: I have fondness for the characters because of the people I met through them
Part 7: The writing in this part was awesome, how there were two protagonists and the art style got more “serious” yet still delivering the “bizarre”
The anime parts 2-3 were really good, I didn’t watch any further than that because the art style change didn’t hook me. I thought they went off-model from the style and character designs, so I didn’t watch it. Not to mention not using the cgi models for the openings was a disappointment. It’s been 10 years since I last read it so I’m sure that I’ll enjoy the anime if I give it a chance one day
What’s yours?

I personally never got the chance to read the manga but I did watch the show up to season 5.
I think season 2 has to be my favourite. It's when things really started to get good and I think Joseph Joestar is the best and funniest of the protagonists.
However I should probably re-watch the series as JoJo was literally the first anime I ever watched so I don't think I really had taste back then nor could appreciate all the elements of it.

You watched more than me! This is the manga style when it was in part 4: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/319122323575047430/ I could stay staring at the drawings for a long time because of the level of detail and love put into them. Worthy subjects of study
Part 2 is really good, I agree that’s where it starts to get good. The first part was hard to finish when I first tried (RIP Zeppeli), but entering Joseph was an instant hook that made me love the series. The change was so good and the title then made more sense. The villain is still one of my favorites
Wow Jojo was your first? I wonder how that felt like, the mood/ambience and characters are really good right off the bat. It’s a great show, I love how each new part brings in a whole twist

That's the thing. Because it was my first I actually thought part 1 was good just because anime as a whole was so novel to me. Only afterwards when I started watching different animes did I realise that JoJo is a complete anomaly and that part 1 could be seen as slow.
I'm no artist but I do imagine with the sheer amount of detail and range of..... unique poses that it's a great study (evidently I don't need to tell you that).
I'd watch part 4 if I was you. I do remember when I was first watching it the style change was something to get used to. However, part 4 is still good and I'm pretty sure in part 5 they go back to their more traditional style, I may be wrong as it has been awhile. Beyond just style I did feel like part 4 was quite different than the rest of the show and I think it was the season I found myself dragging my ass on the most. But part 5 right after that felt like a full return to form in both artistic style and in plot. But then again, I'm not an artist and it was my first anime, I was 14 when I started watching it, so my opinions on the style and plot could be skewed.

That’s amazing. It really feels different than anything else out there, it is unlike other shows.
You can be an artist if you want. Stickmen are a forgiving beginning and then who knows, you could create your own series someday
Part 4 started with a healing tone from the intensity of part 3, bringing us to a small town with a healer protagonist and friendly stand users. It makes us think of jojo in the day to day life rather than an action adventure vs vampires and gods.
And then they introduce the villain, a normal guy, he is so funny, and that one chapter from his point of view where he loses his ‘sandwich’ . GENIUS. They have you rooting for him, it’s an amazing narrative spin.
The story starts following his identity swap and how the son of his new body/disguise is catching on, all while the wife develops a crush on her husband.
I thought that story was fantastic, like magical realism, I was on the edge of my seat.
The story got out of Josuke’s hands, it’s more like this Jojo was a lead up to the narrative switch, the Kira Yoshikage show. It was an absolute delightful read. The small town seals its cycle, and then we are dropped off to another fantastic story, about fashion gangsters.
This is the point of my involvement with the Jojo franchise where I feel the most fondness for the brand. I am 100% invested when I am reading this. I was older than you when this happened, I was a college art student in a new city with no friends. So I really got invested into the media I made time for. And I actually met my partner through Jojo, look at that

I really should re-watch part 4 because I feel like at the time I couldn't appreciate it. I think I expected a lot of action to the degree of the other parts. You're absolutely right about part 4 I just think that as a 14 year old binging the series which was my first anime I was expecting high octane action back to back and part 4, as you said, was hardly about fighting Gods and Vampires. I think now though I'd likely appreciate the more toned down mellowness of it all much more.
I gotta check if it's on Crunchyroll or Netflix.
Also, you met Loumi through JoJo? Lol
