I'd once heard it speculated that chocolate would be just as toxic to anthro canids, just it being a matter of dose. That to have the same effect, someone with the body mass of an adult humanoid would have to eat multiple pounds of baker's chocolate, and a slice of cake or a mug of cocoa would be perfectly tolerable.
