My attempt at this week's Thursday Prompt. This week, the word for the prompt was "rescue".
As always, please be sure to check
ThursdayPrompt for more.
Going back to the swamp this week, but with a distinct lack of cybernetic liquid vixens (sorry
).

I'm glad to hear that you thought the fight was enjoyable enough; I do feel if I had put more time into it that it could have been a bit better though. I haven't really thought of the lizardman's tell, perhaps that is something I can work on for his next appearance.
I'm grateful that you'd read over this one, thanks much for that.

I'm grateful to hear you say so, though I just gave it another look and realized I made a mistake nearing the end (need to go back and fix that; just an incomplete sentence randomly left in there). I like to think that a good deed is its own reward and while the lizardman might not understand what I just said, he still gets it.
Very much appreciate you having taken the time to look this one over, very grateful for that.

I'm grateful you'd say you thought this was well done. Still worry it got a bit rushed at times, so I appreciate you saying so.
I'd also like to thank you for giving me a new perspective on what ails the lizardman. I hadn't previously thought of it as a curse, but given how it is entirely incomprehensible to him, calling it a curse would certainly be fitting.

It's quite the thrill to hear that you like these two; I have very much enjoyed introducing them. In my head, their dynamic is a bit trope-y (even a bit Scooby-Doo at times) and the lizardman's struggle is actually rather simple (he just doesn't get it yet), so how you'd mention them being well done is a real accomplishment to me.

You’re most welcome ☺️
I could definitely see that kind of dynamic between the two of them 😊 I wouldn’t say they’re trope-y, though. You’ve made them unique enough to be their own thing; which I believe makes their friendship all the more intriguing!
In the tabletop RPG world, Lizardfolk are notoriously emotionless - purely practical - and to see one struggle with the unfamiliarity of emotion is really a cool idea. His internal dialogue was great 👍🏻

Admittedly, now that I think about it some more, I probably could have done a bit better about that. Perhaps I could have mixed in a bit of subtlety regarding what afflicts the lizardman by excluding his thoughts or some added depth by making the human's dialogue incomprehensible through the lizardman's perspective. Probably would have been better to pick one side and not both but live and learn, I suppose.
I very much appreciate you having read through this, thanks much for that.

I'm grateful you'd say this was a fun one with a good enough fight scene (I did have a bit of fun putting that together). It's also nice to hear you enjoyed the bear's insistent crying for the lizardman to step in; I like to think the cub is like his cute, little puppy dog!
I might try to avoid any more shorts with him though. Being that he's meant to be a big character in my silly fantasy story, tell much more of his tale and I might just give away his whole shtick!

Ack! I knew I should have at least thrown a fox into the mix somewhere!
While he might be cold blooded, the humans are fortunate that his blood is pumped by a heart of gold. That or he just can't stand to upset his bear cub, one or other.
