Longtail and Jaypaw/Jayfeather should have been best friends, I don't believe Longtail was dead at this point and so I'm very confused this wasn't resolved that way. Surely some blind or injured cat should have helped Jaypaw, yet we get nothing except the fanon Cinder stuff that in canon ain't really there for him, just for her. Maybe fucking utilize your disabled characters instead of just sending them to the medicine or elders den. Gosh. Wasted potential. Anyway, have some late content creation.

You've reminded me how unfair Longtail and the other disabled characters had it in the series and now im mad.
Longtail didn't die until mid Omen of the Stars, y'know where they decided to try and go "We the Erins arent ableist, so to prove it, lets kill one of our blind ones by making them act so out of character its insulting, and cripple Briarpaw and insist on the fact that a crippled cat in the wild makes more sense and lives longer than any deaf cat and most of the blind ones." this was around when the Warriors fandom got permanent brainrot and defended this stupid fucking decision.
Back to Jaypaw/feather. He did in fact know Longtail since he was old enough to walk around, but the in-universe reason as to why Longtail couldn't help him was “Longtail wasn't born blind so everything Longtail learned is irrelevant to Jaypaw” they also use this reason as to why Jaypaw wouldnt listen to Brightheart, Brightheart wasn't born with one eye missing so that means she wasnt really disabled and therefore all the tricks shes learned over the years don't matter because JAYPAW ANGRY GRRR
If I remember right the big decision Jaypaw makes on having to become a medicine cat aside from bullying from Starlcan, was he fell into a fucking hedge and couldn't get out without help. That's it. We never see if Brightheart and Longtail really couldn't help him. We're just told over and over he can't because reasons and eventually Spottedcunt goes
“JAYPAW YOU WILL BE A MEDICINE CAT OR ELSE”
“B-but the dark forest cats said they can teach me to fight, can't you give me a chance to be a warrior”
“NO”
"Okay bye"
And then the incredibly stubborn Jaypaw gives up on his dreams and breaks Brightheart and Longtails hearts, the end.

Gotta love how they wrote Brightheart and Longtail as despite being disabled for years "not born that way so not valid" like bitch, Longtail was blind for years! This is the stupidest shit. Briar being crippled made me mad. Could have made anything else happen. They could have had a wonderful scene where Longtail and Jaypaw are besties and he remembers when he mentored Swiftpaw and feels young again and it could be wholesome.
Ah, yes, stalker grandma who can't give up on stalking Firestar so now "guards over" the next gens except Leafpool and Squirrelflight and Hollyleaf because fuck wammin' in WCs. So all the warrior energy gets transferred to boring basic bitch, Lionblaze who I do not like and is the worst of the three. Thanks, Spottedleaf.
