Sorry, but looking down the barrel of a gun (especially since she has to be trained on how to correctly handle one in order to wear that uniform) just seems beyond "spacey" to me.
Bringing it in to work and forgetting to either load it or bring ammunition would be spacey. Going out on patrol and checking on someone else's beat instead of her own by mistake would be another example.
