Waylen was a young man that never had a real appreciation for music. He could never really 'get into it' as others could, despite sometimes wishing that he could. To be able to feel the joy and emotion that others constantly mentioned they could experience. However, no matter what, it always seemed as if he just couldn't 'feel' anything when he tried listening and could only experience boredom from it. An extreme case of musical anhedonia, topped by also possessing aphantasia, which prevented him from being able to actually visualize images within his mind. For Waylen, anything that involved artistic merit was a massive hurdle he struggled with for years.

For some time, and unbeknownst to him, Waylen was constantly followed by a Meloetta that had taken a strange interest in him. A sort of pity upon the individual who couldn't feel the inspiration and joy from the arts at all.

Desiring to help this poor man in whatever way possible, Meloetta would more than willingly accept some Pokemorph catalyst from Hoopa in its quest to help Waylen.

As such, it would come as an intense shock to the man when he found himself transformed into a Meloetta morph. Along with this, Waylen would be overwhelmed by the sudden ability to properly perceive and feel the music around him. He would also be taken aback by being able to picture things within his head clearly.

The sudden onslaught of his mind being opened to what was once closed, and the ability to outright FEEL the music around him was something that hit him intensely and emotionally.
