To most people, this is just another picture of Sonic and Tails. But this was requested by my step-dad, Steve, who is in a nursing home with a terminal illness.
Back in the day, when he was healthy and i was a lot younger, he would sit and watch the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons with me and laugh himself silly at all the slapstick nonsense.
He asked me for some pictures of the characters from the series, so here's the first picture i've done for him (there's two others coming up) of everybody's favourite dynamic duo. I know i didn't stylise them the way they do in the cartoon, just used my own style.
He always tells me when i visit him how much these pictures cheer him up and help him to remember the good old days.
Steve might not be my biological father, but as far as i'm concerned, he's my Dad and he always will be.
Unlike my biological father, Steve has been the one that has treated me as if i was his real son and that has always meant a lot to me. It kills me inside at what he's going through right now. It's tough, that's for sure.
If i can do just a little bit to make him feel any better and these pictures achieve this, then i'm more than happy to draw 100s of 'em.

Sorry to hear your step-dad has a terminal illness, I hope he gets completely well and is able to hang out with you, because any parent that can enjoy Sonic with their kids is just a pure real life achievement. Gives something for both kids to share. My wishes go out to him getting better. ^-^

He used to play Sonic 2 and 3's 2P mode with me back in the day too, plus other games like Toejam & Earl, his personal favourite, lol.
The nursing home is cool though, even though i'd rather have him home with us, at least he has his own room with a TV and other stuff he can do. I take DVDs round and watch 'em with him whenever i can.
