A circling kite high above, a mother rabbit crouched motionless in the brush. Baba moved without thinking, stepping over the small prey animal and mantling her leafy wings overtop. The rabbit did not startle at the appearance or presence of the dandegryf. Animals never did seem to see Baba as a threat, taking in their presence but seemingly not threatened by it. But the kite understood this behavior, the mantling wings. A claim staked. With a screeching cry, it wheeled away.
After giving the motionless rabbit a once-over for injuries Baba would move on, leaving the rabbit crouched over the entrance to her den. It would be only later that the hybrid creature would wonder why they had felt compelled to do what they had. And longer still to understand the significance of such a compulsion.
When I saw this YCH from
kruvis I couldn't help but grab it for Baba. Their exploration of their purpose in life and the whims they indulged in based off the situations they came across really helped me develop their journey. Kruvis has uploaded her own version onto FA here.
