The magician siblings Heart, Spade, Diamond, Club and Jolly get to a location here at the Edge of Reality with harmless pink flames. "Ooh pretty.", Club comments on seeing that. But the Meowscarada named Ace is already getting in their way again pretty soon after they arrive here, again with the intention to cause conflict between the siblings as he talks to them: "So we meet again!", to which Diamond points out: "Kind of inevitable when you keep following us.", before the bipedal feline Pokémon continues: "But the question is... what will I use against you this time? Is it my awesome cool mechanical tail? Well, good guess, but no." "Literally nobody guessed that...", Jolly remarks, with Ace now complaining: "Stop interrupting me, you're ruining the flow. ANYWAY, I've been watching you for some time, hehe... I know a secret that is surely gonna mess up how you think of each other. A magician never reveals his tricks but... that doesn't apply to such secrets, hehe!"
"Can you get it over with?", Diamond asks him, "We kinda gotta get somewhere." "Ugh, no patience for the art of anticipation, I'd have expected better from you.", Ace disapproves but remaining his stage persona, "Alright, if you want me to reveal the secret this badly, then you shall get exactly that, haha! Ladies and gentlemen, what's it gonna be? Oh, it's about Spade, yes, you've heard that correctly. Specifically... it's about his feelings." "Oh, I'm so scared.", Spade says with sarcasm, "I'm not ashamed, you know?" "Well, you might not be, but your siblings are surely gonna judge you for that!", Ace is certain this will go according to plan... even though his previous attempts to sabotage them failed, "Spade has feelings! For! Heart! Oohhh such a surprise, nobody saw it coming!"
"I mean.", Club points out, "It was pretty obvious. Pretty sure Heart is the only one of us who somehow remained oblivious to that. Indeed, Heart seems to be the only one surprised to hear this, looking over to Spade now to ask him: "S-Spade?... Is this... Is this true?..." Spade nods, letting him know: "Yes, Heart. Your obliviousness just added to your cuteness, heh. Even though I'm pretty sure I was obvious about it. But yeah, heh... I love you and I don't just mean it in the sibling way." Ace comments on the progression of this situation: "Hehehe, Heart is for sure gonna get weirded out by this! I mean, who wouldn't, after all!" "Oh my, Spade...", Heart says shyly, blushing quite noticably, "I-I uhh... wow... I somehow... had no idea... u-uhm... but I uhh... I... I feel the same, brother..." "Nice!", Spade exclaims before immediately pulling Heart towards him to give a big kiss right on his brother's mouth who is first surprised about the sudden action, but then soon gives in and kisses back. Meanwhile Ace just watches in disbelief, eventually saying: "... You guys are weirdos.", before leaving them alone to get in their way again at a later point.

"So what will you try out next?", Persephone asks, "There's pretty much infinitely possible options but... I feel like I can already guess what you would consider another priority." Dione nods to that, affirming: "I... want to seek out a life in which I actually get together or at least confess to Coeus." "Aww, your childhood friend, how cute.", Persephone seems to adore that. So that's a life Dione looks for next.

Dione is with Coeus inside of his shapeship as they're flying to Planet Chronotytonida again. After all, they got friends there with Tethys, Oceanus and Charon living there. It's on this day on the way to there, that Dione pushes herself to finally tell her feelings to Coeus: "Coeus, I... I want to tell you something. Something I'm... not sure if I'll ever find the courage again to tell you another time, so... I gotta get it out before I back away again." "Well, you know you can tell me anything, Dione.", Coeus assures her as he sets the ship on autopilot so that she can know he is paying full attention to her. Dione takes a deep breath, thinking about how it would probably be easiest to just blurt it out, so she shuts her eyes tightly so that she doesn't have to hold eye contact while she quickly gets it out of her: "I-I love you, Coeus!... There... It's out... a-and yeah, I uhh... I mean it romantically." "Huh.", her best friend reacts to that, rubbing behind his own head some, "Well... not sure how else to tell you this but... I really can't imagine you as anything other than my best friend, Dione. Sorry..." "Ah. Oh, it's okay...", Dione replies, breathing out as she opens her eyes with sadness, though also with relief that she at least said it. He gives her a hug right away, telling her: "As much as I can't love you back the same away... you can count on me to comfort you and be there for you, alright?" Dione nods to that as she quietly and gently hugs back.
Dione's life from that point onward goes on much the same as usual, though her loneliness later on in her life feels even more apparent to her than it otherwise would have been, since she is now living with the knowledge that she doesn't even have a chance with the one she loves.

Eventually, when she's older and on her death bed again, with Coeus of course being there due to his very frequent visits to her in here, she asks him with sadness in her voice: "Coeus, can I... can I at least get a kiss from you? I just... want to experience that before I'm truly gone..." Not wanting to deny a wish from his best friend when she is about to die any day now, he silently nods to this before he does give her that kiss on the lips that have never been kissed before. But... she can tell that that's the only reason he does it. She can tell there is no romantic love behind that kiss whatsoever. So even though Coeus is right by her side... she feels like dying alone anyway, with nobody to really blame for that, as it seems like there was never anything more than a friendship intended between the two anthro moths. Nonetheless, she then tells him: "Thank you, Coeus... for being such a great friend... even up until my death...", closing her sad eyes for a final time, feeling like she is truly done with this imperfect life now.

Not satisfied, Dione seeks out other lives, talking to herself as she does that: "Alright, if I can't get together with him by confessing... I'll just look for a life where the relationship comes to be by itself, as a result of choices rather than a direct choice like confession to lead into it." So soon afterwards, she picks up the next book based on what she could feel would be the one to fulfill those requirements.

With Coeus and Dione already starting out as really good friends very early on, of course there are also lives like this one here, where their closeness just continues to progress rather than remaining simply a friendship. So as they keep being friends, their friendship-based visits to and time spent with each other eventually leads to the first and following times of them... well, snuggling and cuddling, Dione is quite the chaste type of person after all, though kisses eventually get involved as well. Just slowly progressing into something more akin to a romantic relationship from little differences eventually turning into this bigger difference. However, eventually...
"Dione, honestly...", Coeus says, "What we have, I uhh..." He sighs before then just saying it: "I don't wanna hurt you but... it doesn't feel right when I... when I'm not even feeling anything romantic with you. I feel like... I simply went along for the ride, metaphorically speaking." "Oh...", Dione reacts to that with deep disappointment, though mostly on herself, blaming herself for not realizing his lack of feelings herself, "It's.. It's okay. Thank you for being honest with me..." So they end up agreeing on just staying friends, even if Coeus jokingly asks if he should take away her virginity while they're still a couple, something Dione denies with a giggle, telling him: "I'd want that to be with someone where there is mutual romantic love going on, you know? Someone I could actually start a family with." "You know...", Coeus brings up, "You ARE like a sister to me." "Well, that just made our entire relationship weird, haha."
