The high moorlands pokèmon runs after the big clouds that rule the environment, hiding from their predators. They usually don't show their fire features (mane or tail) unless there's an extremely cold weather or if there's danger around, in which case they will alert the herd or fight the threat.
Rapidash are also the main "tool" of a dangerous cult that trains the creatures to burn towns and villages to ashes around the land as a sacrifice. The cult first appeared in the specific event of winter extending over other seasons, they believed this was due to the death of Moltres. The sacrifice was firstly done under the belief that it would fasten the rebirth of the bird god and strenghten it to take it's place and restore the order. But rumors among the cult promoted sacrifices by spreading the myth that those willing to, would receive a divine favour from the flaming god.
