Xatu is able to know random events in the future of a certain area, but also know an object or person's future event. This knowledge is obtained through an additional olfactory receptor that's able to perceive and send aura information of the place, object or person to a well developed brain area that activates a conscious Déjà Vu effect on the bird's brain, allowing the bird to be living consciously the present while "seeing a future event". Since future is not set in stone Xatu also perceives variations, this is the reason this pokemon stays in a specific place, figuring out which one is most probable and even what to do to make one of those variations most probable. It is not known how far in the future they can see.

Ruler Sikaih was still a young girl when she became queen of the vast lands of Khaban. She succeeded her father after he died in strange circumstances. From the moment she took control she ordered a pair of Xatu's. But even having this incredible birds by her side, she wasn't able to avoid the already seen future (and the gods know she tried to force the pair of birds to change what was already happening) where she was sabotaged and later exiled from her lands to die in the desert.
