i went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out if it was related to my old DAW EnergyXT that i loved but found no answers, looks tight tho!

I really doubt it but I'm not sure. I latched onto this synth because it's microtunable and way more user friendly than ZynAddSubFX .ZynAddSubFX is in many cases more powerful (for instance: the harmonics customization is just absolutely fuckin bonkers) but man it's just a pain in the ass to use. SurgeXT also has an absolute fuckton of waveshaping models and I've gotten some real crunchy tones out of this thing that I haven't been able to recreate in other synths.
