Fractured identity, fractured mind.
........... i only just now realized I intended on putting some sort of design on his shirt. Only after uploading this to like six other places, naturally xD

Aaaa this made me really happy to see! I didn't expect anyone to show interest in any sort of story or thought process behind my art. UNFORTUNATELY this piece deals a fair bit with his story that is yet unexplored (but will be) in an active project/ webcomic! BUT I did come up with a spoiler free answer that involves feelings and ideas behind this piece!
See, Crom has a shakeable identity, his sense of self is frequently in flux. So, that's sort of what this piece portrays. While also supposed to sort of represent failing to uphold an identity and presence that had been built up by others, and experiences. It's about failure, and disappointment (for ones self and others), and struggle with that feeling.
On one side of the canvas, there's static, a disconnect from something. On the other side, rays of light meant to evoke religious symbolism, but it's abstract. A little flat looking. He's surprised and paralyzed a bit by the sudden upheaval of everything. And the schism in the middle, like, is symbolic of a mental split, and also the inability to return to the "place" he's fallen from.
OOF YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T EXPECT A HUGE ANSWER PFFF I hope all that makes sense and I'm so sorry for how long this reply got xD

Aw wow, holy fuck, I love this. The background elements clash so awesomely, both in color and texture, creating a tension. The rift looks great too, very mesmerizing, and I love THE SHAPES you used for it!
The details on Crom, too, damn... the anatomy looks fantastic as do the clothing folds! They drape very realistically. The weight of his shirt, jacket, and hair look really believable and awesome.
Those yellow and purple highlights on his beautiful hair and in general look beautiful too! I kind of see that the yellows face the right side and the purples face the left and I think that's kind of sick.
Also... man, his eyes are beautiful.
I love this picture. Fuckin' beautiful, dear.
