Butterfree evolves from metapod in summer, and they usually follow the hot climates in big migrations. They were thought to be poisonus due to the stinging hair on their wings, but when attacking they previously detach these by rubbing the wings with their rear legs and then flapping. They also use the stinging hair to protect their eggs by covering them with it. When the evolution from Metapod is recent their wings are translucent, the more they fed the more hair they will grow making their wings less translucent and more white. It is still unknown why, but the hair's poisonus effect may induce a sort of sensory awareness translating into a psychic sensibility that Butterfree exploits to use certain psychic abilities to confuse and damage the other.

In the warm lands, once existed a royal family. The King was a compassionate man, and the Queen was an unorthodox young lady. They lived in a castle with many gardens, so Butterfree and other insects were a typical sight. Due to the many insects surrounding their domains the lineage exposed itself to the poisonus hair of Butterfree, over decades and a couple tragedies the family developed immunity to the poisonus effects of it, but they maintained the psychic link with the insects, expanding their awareness beyond mortal limitations.
