Ive always loved sunsets, especially at sea. Even during uneasy times, it's important to slow down and watch the beauty of the world unfold.
Patrolling the coastlines aboard an imperial frigate seems like a luxury cruise for most, but there are always groups daring enough to try and score a military vessel and it's cargo on the frontier.. So remaining vigilant is always important out here. With the light quickly fading below the horizon.. things will only get more interesting.
This was something i started as a little portrait, but kept coming back and changing the size. After a day out with my mum, and watching a sunset over a couple of beers, i had the idea for how i wanted this piece to look~ the background is a photograph and i tried to blend things together so that it didnt look like who framed roger rabbit XD
Ive always loved the idea of seeing large Ships in orbit from the planet surface, and how the light of the Sun would interact with it. This idea comes from looking at the moon in daylight, adding the dots of it's guns, a few features here and there that are lower than the shadows..
theres also a few other marine vessels in the distance, barely visible with the salt spray, mists and fading sunset
had alot of fun doing this one, i rarely ever work outside flat color and black linework
