Here are some quick snapshots of that fox I'm working on. Everything's done except for the head. I'm going to get someone taller to wear him soon so I can see if that fills out the wrinkles. He's on someone 5'2//160lbs here :)
I have no idea where the short rust fur is from or if its available anywhere. A friend of mine who makes faux fur coats brought me a few yards of it in trade for helping him make his crazy my pet monster costume for burning man.
Fox is going on furbuy when he's done!

You can get the short red fox fur from http://www.crscrafts.com I buy it quite often from them so they normally have it in stock.
here are the exact links to the part of their site for fox colored fur...
Normal fur nap

3" pile nap

Both these colors are identical in shading. I know the pictures are deceiving, but I have both them sitting here beside me in 4 yard quantities and they match 100%
Hope this helps...

thank you!! good to know there's more rusty stuff out there! I'll keep it in mind for future projects.
the tail I made is from monterey mills rust & white fox,
and the short rust is actually a different fur (i just looked at my cubby rust sample and it's different than what I used)... The fur I have is closer to a seal fur, but not super seal.

oh sweet! good to know! I'm slowly learning the names and brands of the kinds of fur out there... I've had a bit of a slow start since I generally buy most of my fur in the garment district from these outlets that just supply tons of bolts that have no identification on them. my roommates and I have some code names we've made up for some of them, and now i'm just starting to learn what the stuff really is :)
Yeah, be sure to order a sample before you order off line though. There are some fur vendors out there who sell the cheap stuff that doesn't last.
I keep swatches of all my fur suppliers so I can show the potential fursuit buyer exactly what they will be getting. Helps close a sale.
