Can't it comes from the north, it will die out here, won't be able to reproduce, it's not it's natural habitat and all... don't worry the cocoon comes from a breeder and not from the wild

It kind of reminds me of this other moth (I think it was a moth...) I saw before. No idea what it was exactly, but it was pretty small. When it was flying, it looked like it was floating in place like a small pure-white fairy or a wisp. When it landed, it looked like a very fuzzy moth. Any ideas?

yah it's their common name, the real scientific name is Actias Luna :)

I saw a whole bunch of lunar moths late at night in a gas station parking lot. Maybe about 40 of them
Most of them were dead. I only found 3 alive.
It made me sad.

they live very shortly, like about 1 week in the wild they reproduce and died...
it is sad :(

there's no point in releasing it here, it won't be able to mate, at least it will live a long non stressful life here, we installed a terrarium in my daughter's bedroom, it has a whole 10gallon to itself :)

it's from a couple of places from what I've read
in North America from east of the Great Plains in the United States to northern Mexico and from Manitoba eastward through central Quebec to Nova Scotia in Canada

There is no point, and he'd probably be happy in his safe little house, and people shouldn't release any animal into a non-native habitat. Even if this one moth couldn't be invasive many other animals could be very easily so it's a good thought to have no matter how small the animal is.

Unfortunately we were out (School & work for me) but she is most happy to have the little friend in her bedroom for a while, as long as it doesn't start scaring the crap out of her at night *chuckles* the one we had 2 years ago was quite a flapper!

How cute. My daughter would ave a blast but she'd probably cry when he died. She attaches to animals super quick and wants them t live forever lol.

she has a light sleep so if it goes hyper at night I'll have to move it out *chuckles*

my girl is pretty courageous with creatures as long as she can see them, she don't like noises and things like that :)

Mine is such a heavy sleeper. I can walk in her room, turn on the light mess with something of hers, turn the light off and shut the door and she'll sleep right through it.
Angel isn't big on bugs/insects unless they're pretty. Other animals though she's a little more willing to meet and touch.
