So FL Studio has a feature where it's always recording midi input up to 30 minutes, so for most songs, I just jam along to something until I play something I like and go into the midi log and grab it.

This was an exercise in only doing that, the only thing not made that way was the drums (and the vocals I guess 'cause that's not midi but it was still just made on the fly)
