Shadow Waltzes was composed by Brian Balmages in 2016. The piece draws on the contrast between dark and light, and features a driving rhythmic bass pulse throughout. Listen for the sinister opening section, the dark chorale, and the frenetic shadow circus that closes out the piece.

Another fun piece by my concert band, which is a pretty big group (for scale, there are 9 trombones including myself). I also did all the recording and mastering on this - it ended up being 15 channels of audio to capture everything, split across three different recording devices (I've learned my lesson the hard way not to trust any one device). It's a bit of extra work on the back end to make sure everything is synced up, but I think it's worth it so you can hear every part.
