This your Flat Gremlin?
Gremile Hotshot from one of those crazy doom engine games that somehow feels both super retro and distinctly modern at once. I have no idea when it was made or how remotely known it actually is, the fact that the only decent character references are on TV Tropes might be a bit telling of something. It's "Memoirs of Magic" in any case, and quite a collection of stylish anthro designs in there.
My experience is this is perfectly accurate as this guy already has the defense of a piece of paper (and Zdoom sprites are basically flat side views when looking from above or below.)

wait what, you only know them from Memoirs of Magic? XD you know the creator of that game made another game recently called Kings of Hell and Gremile (and Mal) are returning characters from that game.

I take forever to play things anymore so yeah, I kinda see he is at least a bit popular.
That's seriously fast, but if you can get a closeup, actually looks decently considered as an animation for what it is. So yeah sad, doesn't seem like they would need to remove it for any stalling gameplay reason.
