Character
Vojek was born in the secluded community of Atlantis, hidden from the rest of the world where only a few outsiders know of its existence. The archipellagio hosted all kind of strange creatures, even those from other worlds, a rarity for a world that has not even made official First Contact yet. Vojek was one of these aliens, and although he had Carbine heritage, he considers Earth, not Carbin, to be his true home. His family took on a Portugese surname (the official local language of Atlantis) of "Viajante", meaning "Traveller", but ironically this was a sign of intent to stay. For Vojek, however, this name was somewhat prophetic...
Although Atlantis had all the luxuries one can dream of, more advanced compared to the rest of the world, Vojek found it to be a golden cage: he couldn't leave, because his blue fur and purple flesh would make him stand out like a sore thumb, spilling the secret of the existence of alien life before this planet's society was really ready for it. The only thing that seemed to break the boredom was sports. He partook in several strength sports, and hammer throwing was his specialty (though he was also quite good at throwing javelins). It was at one of these sporting events in the year 2020 where he met his unsuspecting soulmate, a traveller from the outside world: Harm, a globetrotting young bull from the Netherlands. Something clicked between them, and Vojek invited him over for a drink. There, Harm told him that he had only found out today about magic and that he had a large potential in it, and that he was on a visit to Atlantis to get to know the hidden part of the world better. Vojek felt safe to share his true alien origins with him, and asked him to take him with him on his travels. With a bit of magic he would be able to disguise himself in some less conspicuous brown colours. After getting permission from the authorities, the two continued their travels around the world together, learning Harm's language along the way (thanks to intensive training from the Universal Translator implanted in him) and Harm took him all the way to his family's farm, his home.
Vojek settled down with the bull. He took the name Wolter, a name that would look normal in the region he was now living in, to not raise any suspicions from the community about his background. He was helping out on the farm, and found this humble, but intensive job more satisfying than what he had back in Atlantis. Harm's family took him in lovingly, and the warmth in his relationship with Harm grew stronger. They signed a partnership declaration at the municipal hall as a vow to stay together. And because of a quirk in his alien anatomy, he found that Harm and he were able to have children in a natural way, despite both of them being men. It wasn't long before they put their wish for children into deeds, and Vojek became pregnant of twins, Anja and Rien, one of each their species with some hybridisation. During the pregnancy, the two of them had plans for their wedding, and shortly after their children were born, they got married.
The two of them took care of the children on the family's farm. Vojek saw his partner's magic prowess grow, showing him the spells he had learned with as much pride as a child showing his mother his work. And through Harm's social network he had build as an apprentice in magic, Vojek came into contact with a prominent figure of his own species: admiral Řykaja, the commanding officer of L4 Station, cloaked in orbit around Earth. Although never becoming actual friends, they became good acquaintances. The admiral once arranged a trip off-world for him to visit Carbin for the first time (but he was sad Harm wasn't allowed come with him at the time). He learned a lot about his own species' culture, but during the entire trip, he kept on longing back for Earth. Not long after his return, disaster struck: the climax of the Wellspring War had hit close to home, and the farm they lived in had collapsed. Most of Harm's family could be saved, although not with lasting injuries, but they had to rebuild their farm. Vojek did his best to start with the reconstruction himself as soon as he could, a project that took him two years, even with others helping with the reconstruction. Upon First Contact being made less than a year after the disaster striking their lives, Vojek was finally able to drop the disguise he had been "wearing" all those years and finally show his true alien immigrant self to the world. And even when he could travel around the galaxy freely now, he would always want to come back to the farm, because that is the place where he could find the people he loves in his life: his husband and children.
