So I gots the snuggly image finished this afternoon yay for me HAHA.
Its about 20-25 hours worth of work I think if I timed myself when I'd work on it.
The scanner butchered Searanox's darks, as per usual the shine that isn't there when you look at the actual image appeared when the scanner bulb went over it. His nails look GREY...when they're clearly black on the image. I tried playing with the colors and making it better but nay...it would have nothing of it.
So behind Searanox is the lip of a volcano, because there is one in Searanox's territory and behind Azurea is the large forest that sits in the valley along the mountain's edge. I made some of the treeline go into the mountainside like it would but not a lot.
This image is actually a bit bigger, its a 9 x 12 in and my scanner is only 8.5 x 11.5 in.
Azurea belongs to me.
Searanox belongs to

I'm thinking so as well, this is like the tenth I've done of Azurea and she's still evolving into her own character artistically.
Searanox this is like his fourth appearance ever in my artwork so we're working on him still even in getting proportions right haha.
Right now her front arms seem too long to me and her back legs seem too wide. We shall work on that and it should shrink her down. Her tail is always very very long and her head is the right size but you can't really see the length of her neck in this image due to fore-shortening so its longer than his too. We decided its about a 2:3 ratio or a 3:4 ratio I think but I'd have to ask him haha, he'd remember and wrote it down I think.
thanks for commenting! Hope you like stories back!

This is definitely one of your greater masterpieces, Angel. I would frame this if we lived together or something, seriously. You spent a long, long time working on it and it turned out great. Sometimes you seem to struggle with facial expressions, but these are just great. Azurea seems very calm and serene while Searanox just seems lazy-happy and content. Their poses add to it and make everything feel safe and happy.
Azurea's pose is very complex and I can see you took special care with her tail length and such, so that everything was where it needed to be to make sense. Searanox's face and brow is very impressive, with all the scales and mini-horns there. That must've taken ages to detail and color nicely. Even his ears look great, sliding from one color to another, but you can tell there's back-lighting and such there. Whew! I think this is about the size that they would be, compared to our RP's. We decided something like 2:3 or 3:4 in size, but this seems about right too.
Its not unusual for a red dragon to find a high spot to lord over his territory (check your Draconomicon!), but seeing them both up here is very nice, and the backgrounds add just a pinch more POP to the piece. They're not being cute floating in white space. They're in a physical location that makes sense and it just adds to the piece as a whole. It makes me believe even more that they are in a 3-d space, and that they could just pop off the page! <3
...I admit, it took time for me to notice that they were holding paws (I've been looking at it over and over and over and only JUST saw that recently). Not something I would have put in a draconic picture, since the nuzzling has prominance, but its cute.
A showcase of true talent!
