Yeah, I was flipping through pictures of lizards the other night and I realise that really I'm doing it wrong. There is a lot of detail I'm not putting in in terms of scales, varying colors, etc. Thats the downside of drawing fictional crap, you have to work 20x as hard to add in detail that should be there, but isn't. I use reference images for poses, etc, but I rarely have for skin texture and tone. I probably should start doing that too.
I just dont like characters to become cliche, so I've tended to avoid adding in superfulous identifying. Adding spots or stripes when they arent necessary (or piercings omfg) doesnt make a character distinct. I care more about the overall visual presence of the art. Trying to make it more realistic though, thats a balance. I did add spots on "Space Jock," but that was specifically at Nekrall's request.
I guess thats for the future though. Or maybe drawing characters again with more clarified features.

-) You're probably one of the few I've encountered with that sort of mentality (piercings are just over used anymore.) I remember encountering a tutorial by Reptile Cynrik some years ago on Deviant art, that detailed how he achieves such a realistic look with his scales. The amount of layering, shading, and time that goes into one single portion is nothing short of meticulous: but doing, hell, is worthy of extol.
-) Another question, if you don't mind me asking really is will you be expanding to other kinds of reptiles? Komodo, Crocodile, and so on: as fanboy as it might seem, I do take the time (as like others) to appreciate the butt-fuck load of time it goes into the art that I fav and save.

Yeah, its a balance of spending time vs getting it right. I need to create some brushes.
AS far as other species, I'd say my current creations are heavily influenced by Komodos already, especially the faces. I've been trying to get out of the box and create more varied styles, but I need to work on forms too. I've been a bit too repetitive with how I draw things and I'm trying to get out of my box. Unfortunately some of that box is scalies lol. Other types are definitely in the future, but I'll probably try something like an dragon or a snake first, as I have ideas that relate to both of those.

Haha. I guess its revoked then. I didn't think pron was necessary for this one, and I really try to avoid double versions if I can. I like the pants and they were important for the balance of the picture.
However, my next pic should be up tomorrow, and it has plenty of penis.
