She was born into a poor family with a plant stem on her head. Her parent had tried to cut the stem, but it kept growing back. Her parents had realized that she was unique and gifted.

As a child, she would visit a fruit stand and always asked the merchant for rotted fruits and vegetables which confused the merchant. She takes the rotted fruits and vegetables home and to her parents surprise, the rotted fruits and vegetables became fresh and very edible.

Her parents want to keep her powers a secret in fear that the Omeginati might find out about her and they told her not to tell anyone about her powers, but little did they know that someone was spying on them.

One day a druid named Syltricia tells them that they should get everything they could carry and take their daughter with them and go with her into the forest where they could be safe. The Omeginati had somehow found out about Chelkerri's powers and are looking for her and if the family had chose to stay they will die and Chelkerri would be taken and her powers would used for terrible things.

The parents had listened to Syltricia's warning and left with her and stayed in the forest. Syltricia then introduces the family to Candaneilya and told her about the plight of the family and Chelkerri's powers. The head druid decides to take the family in and realized that Chelkerri would be a fine asset to her group. A scout had informed them that the Omeginati had paid a visit to their home and ransacked it.

Chelkerri's parent were very thankful to the druid for saving them and in return became members of the group.

Years later, Chelkerri grew into a fine young woman and used her powers to communicate with the flora around her, reviving dead plants, controlling plants to protect the forest and providing food for her fellow druids through her powers.
