Speckle Does Classic Sci-Fi #1 -The War of the Worlds (1898)
"Out of the hood hung red shreds, at which the hungry kangaroo now slurped and munched."
Silly pic based on the climax of H.G. Wells' classic novel 'The War of the Worlds'.
First in a series... maybe.

Not sure. I was going to do a series of pics based on classic sci-fi novels but ended up only drawing two. If I was going to do another Wells inspired one it'd probably be of Speckle sitting in the Time Machine.
I'm also a big fan of Wells - his output from the 1890s until about 1910, that is. One I like most is 'The War of the Worlds' as it's been so influential in the genre ever since. The first alien invasion, the first use of laser weapons, the first example of an alien 'monster', hints at biotechnology, first example of terraforming ( red weed ), first use of 'mecha' type vehicles... and so on. All very impressive when you consider it was written in the late Victorian era!
