Despite his more robotic look to those he watches over, he's still the same figure that has protected them over the centuries. In the more 'organic' form or not, he'd still offer safety to those who reside, an 'elevated' form of it should they ask him directly. It does mean that they'll be removed from the world at large by being reduced to such a size that even dust would likely tower over them, but the internals of his chassis would be a safe haven for those who reside within.
