Years ago, Egon Blow was a member of an international terrorist organization. However, when a doomsday weapon they had prepared was destroyed in a fight with the US military, Egon was caught in the explosion and flooded with strange radiation. Though he survived, his body began to change and mutate over the years. He discovered he could make himself swell and expand until he burst, destroying everything around him but leaving himself unharmed.

Seeing this as a chance for revenge, he blasted his way out of prison, got a new moniker as the volatile Blewbird, and made his way to Nexus City to get his revenge on the soldier who put him in the slammer in the first place
