A fairly modern place that is changed forever by an act of barbarism that is as old as the civilization that built it.
Once familiar to him - now irrevocably unlike it was before.
Substantial amount of work was performed within the monumentality of it's walls.
Liquids cold and hot, gases and currents were the blood of machines installed here, all working in sync, forming a productive organism at the heart of the industry it powered and bearing the fruit of the labor it was designed to do - now only a charred ruin and it's spirit as a freeze frame in thoughts of those who built, maintained and admired it.
Atleast of those that are still able to tell this tale.
He might reach it one day to reminisce what the place was like - as most beings burdened by memories are inclined to do at some point.
Only to find how former story of this corner is now echoed solely by whispers of the seashore and distant wailing of seagulls that come here to rest.

Disclaimer - I do not think there exist a way to even begin to do a proper justice to the location and to events that took place there, so there will be no explicit references or names. This is what I think is enough for me to somewhat settle thoughts on the subject for now and it might not be in agreement with anyone else and I get it.
It all was in the headlines, you've probably have heard them and likely have forgotten them as soon as news feed moved on, but memories of some will last longer than of others.
So what's left is to compile stories and put them somewhere on display to remind about what was once important in one way and still is important in another.

Idea losely based on story of a real place, inspired by indirect association and "Elegy for the Rings" of Outer Wilds OST by Andrew Prahlow.
Strikingly drawn by
raxrie who was incredibly patient with my edits. Thanks!
