Akira had wings when she was a huge divine dragon.
Her wings gave her the ability to travel between space and time.
She had incredible abilities on par with a deity, but everything changed after an accident and now she has no wings, all that remains of them are only hardened feathers on her back.
She can only take this form again when she enters the astral plane, hence the name Astral Akira
