I must genuflect to the master, now. Stan Sakai is like a tiny god. Usagi Yojimbo is one of the comic inspirations that's universal across my generation and the one after me.
That being said, the ear thing, though I'd like to take credit, is really The Gay Hare's thing. He gave me a relatively thorough description the first tim I drew him.
