Welp, in an attempt to combat a recent lack of inspiration, i decided to do this, a take on one of my favorite sci-fi weapons, the BR55.
Halo is one of my favorite videogame universes, and their weapons became one of my favorite things, the MA5 series, Magnum pistols and BR battle rifles being the ones i like the most, and i particularily obsessed on the BR55 due to the fact that it wasn't modeled with an ejection port, an issue that persisted up to Halo Infinite's BR85, what's an ejection port?, simple, the part that ejects the spent bullet casings from the weapon. The MA5 series has an obvious ejection port on the weapon's buttstock, but the BR55 doesn't, so that planted the question on my mind: how does it work then?
I first experimented on giving it a somewhat-crude ejection port to the 3D model as seen here www.deviantart.com/xrayleader/… , which served it's purpose at the time, then i found out about the F2000's forward-ejection mechanism and compared it with Halo 2's anniversary BR55's model and i thought "well, maybe that's what it has near the buttstock's cheek rest" and just took it for granted.
Then someone did MAKE A FUNCTIONAL, NON-COSPLAY-WEAPON-DRESSING-FOR-AN-AR-15 BR55 (You can find it on youtube) and made my mind soar, since it had a FUNCTIONAL EJECTION PORT, that of course was just a hole slightly above the bolt itself, but then i remembered the Desert Tech MDR's "dual ejection system" (It can be configured to eject sideways or forward) and i decided, "meh, what the hell?, would look cool anyways on the BR55, and so, this was born, and then i made a few "weapon configurations out of it.
From top to bottom:
BAREBONES - The BR55 without the handguard, scope and the ejection system, showing that it can be configured to eject from either side and that the handguard can be deattached to configure the BR55 to accept other scopes, grips, or even underbarrel grenade launchers or shotguns
STANDARD-ISSUE - The BR55 we know and love with the A2-Scope and handguard attached, with the added plus of showcasing the forward-ejection system configured for right-handed operators.
STANDARD-ISSUE-WITH-FLASHHIDER - After watching this cool art www.deviantart.com/gc-concepta… from
gc-conceptart , i said "why not?", could go well with an underbarrel grenade launcher
XRAY CUSTOM - And finally, this custom-configured BR55 by my oc of name "Xray", which was an ODST that sported this particular weapon. the A2-Scope was replaced with what i like to call a "Misriah Tac-Ready optic", a headcanon aftermarket sight that has a lot of configurations and functions.....that i haven't decided on yet XD. He later added a suppressor with an attached laser-aiming module on it.
And that's it, thanks for reading this wall of nerdy-text!
