The difference between cats (and dogs) and people is that they never ask to end up in trouble. Peep-peep was starving, had a hernia and was in a world of trouble. Shadow was a foundling the local ASPCA asked me to take --and I've never really been sorrry. He's a sweet kid, even if he is dumb as a rock. Cleo my mom asked me to take. So I asked for Sullivan., Polly and Squeak and got Cleo, Shadow and Peep-peep. It doesn't matter, really. They're all mine now.
awwww!!
You are so blessed!
my old boy cats passed on a few years ago, each 20 something. i miss them so much, and am so grateful to have had our lives together. Thomas (blue point siamese mix) who found us as a lost kitten, and Sylvester (long hair black and white scotch fold) who was abandoned at seven and came sneaking in our cat door to get a bit to eat. They didn't get along at first, then made peace, would sleep together some days, some days spat a bit, then become bros again.
There was a National Geographic issue a couple months ago with an article about domestication - according to what it said cats are the only "domesticated animal" that chose on their own to live with humans, the only ones we didn't force 'domestication' on. In the wild they're solitary, but with humans they form extended family bonds drawing from prolonged kitten-hood patterns.
You the Momma cat, centre of the world and all feline civilization! mew!
and, yes, i love this phrase :
Cats own everything!
:)

all of my cats are rescues of one kind or another. I inherited two from my mom, one from acquaintances who's son was allergic and the meds weren't helping, and a very old cat from a guy in work who was getting a divorce and neither wanted the cat. After that cat died, I got another one from a local shelter. He's more trouble than the other three combined. His name is Ronny, but I've dubbed him Ronny Monster. And he really lives up to the name. ;7
Some people recycle cans and newspapers, I recycle cats in need of a good home.
